   Hi there,

   Well I am new to this forum and hope that it proves to be my best find lol!!!

   Well I have purchased a new Acer Aspire 6920, however due to having a toying member of the family they have destroyed the hidden partition and I had to reinstall Vista. I am now running on the 30 day license.

   My question is?? Does anyone have or know were I can get my hands on a set of recovery discs without paying the 50 odd pounds that Acer want???

   No, i dont, let me know if you can find it somewhere.

   But i gues you could download a cracked version of your OS and manually download/install the acer drivers for your model.

   Or if you still have warranty send it back to acer and state that you have a software problem and want a new preload (please), but some country's will charge you for a software preload, IMHO not fair to the customers, but that's how life (read: acer) is...

   I have looked into this however I am told by an Acer engineer that you can only install a Vista Home Premium ACER OEM edition, and not a normal OEM version...

   I have tried the later but without success....

   Does anyone know how to bypass this situation please as GOD DAMB it goes against the grain forking out £50 lol!!!!!

   Are you sure it's gone?
   Google partedit32 and look for a link that says laptop-support dot net or something similar.
   It may still be there you just can't find it.

   Well I thought I ould take an hour to look at this more.

   And well I have cracked it and I honestly can not believe how simple it really was.

   Okay so you know I was running a NO PRODUCT KEY version of Windows Vista Premium (TRIAL), well after trying verious things I thought well sod it I will try and activate this version using the activate windows section in My Computer.

   Then I noticed something saying validate my key. So I thought Ill give it a shot. I validated the key online (OEM License key atached to the laptop) and it came back as valid. No Suprise there.

   I then carried on and tried to activate my copy of Windows. And guess what.......

   It worked!

   No issues at all; all acivated, all patched as OEM license. This after Acer had told me it was not possible.

   So all these guides that go into complecated ways to get into the PARTITION are not neccasary just install a version of Vista without entering he product key, VALIDATE the key online then actiavate. I honestly can not believe how simple this was OH MY GOD!!!

   Anyway thanks for all your help non the less cuase if it was not for persistance I would not have resolved this.
