   In general, audio quality in my acer laptop is OK but every 2-3 minutes (sometimes more often) I can hear a crack/pop (a bit like with old vinyl record);
   this is especially noticeable while using headphones, and I've tried 3 different types of speakers/headphones;
   I have installed 3 different versions of drivers - with no positive effect

   Any ideas? Is there any chance that BIOS upgrade can help? ...or maybe it's just a faulty sound card

   It happened to me one time
   but it was due to some clipping inside the file not a hardware problem

   internal sound cards are usually not as good as external sound cards due to some interference inside the laptop
   if you can go for an external sound card just go for it
   even the cheapest 3$ shipping included usb 3D sound card that I found at ebay has a better sound quality than the one inside
