   every time i listen to one of my dvds the sound is awful, i cant even bare to turn it up remotly cause everytime you get a reasonably loud part in the dvd you get that horrible screeching sound, dosent really make sence as i have a acer aspire 8930g and its onl about 4 months old

   can anyone help please

   Hey Kevin,
   I had the same problem with my 8930g. And also the volume was not as high as it was.
   After re installing the software the problem was gone, and it only takes few min.
   You can also open Realtek HD Audio Manager and play with the settings there.
   Thats how i found out one of my speakers is not working.

   Some options:

   -Software recovery (dont forget to backup)
   -Update VGA driver, yes it sound silly i know
   -Disable microphone boost under windows audio settings
   -Update system bios
   -send it to acer repair
