    Hi all
I've upgraded Vista to Win7 on a new Timeline 5410 (Tescos) and have one issue where the DVD drive is not now visible. Under Vista it worked fine so something has been introduced in the upgrade.
I'm on v1.15 BIOS which is over 6 months old and I want to know which of the newer versions should I use? The latest version is 2.31 but worringly says "Special Edition 2009".
    Suggestions anyone?

you should get 1.31, 2.31 has the Olympic logo but otherwise is the same.

The DVD issue is one of two things. First update your intel matrix storage drivers. The latest should be v8.9.0.1023

Second, update your Optical drive power management software from the acer site.

Many thanks from an Acer user who was close to tears. I love my new 5410, but I upgraded to Windows 7 and instantly regretted it.

The DVD drive stopped being recognised, startup time rose dramatically, and the mic stopped working.

Having followed the advice above and installed the 1.31 bios, I think the DVD is now back.

But the eject button no longer works at all, and the machine keeps doing a blue screen 'crash dump'.

I don't want to admit to myself that I've bought a turkey. I love the hardware, but I want to get it stable. Any further advice please?

Cheers, Mike (still close to tears).

Thanks TD - I've done that now, and updated the matrix storage drivers, as you suggest. The DVD eject issue seems better - phew!

Still nervous though - would you recommend updating all the drivers available on the Acer site? There are dozens, and it says they're the ones which aren't included in W7.

Very, very grateful for your help. Mike.
