    Hi Acer Guy,

I hope you can help me here as I am at my wits end. I have been experiencing a strange intermittant graphics problem with my Travelmate 7720G and ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 graphics card.

The symptoms are that occasionally the screen will display 'ghost' images of whatever is displayed and also does not seem to display colour properly. It is as if the display colour depth has been lowered on sections of the screen and smudged to one side.

The sections of the screen that are affected are not always the same and the fault appears randomly (Both the store we bought the machine from and I have extensively tested it under various loads/ stress tests with various software both diagnostic and packages I use) and eventually corrects itself...only to appear again at random some time later.

We have sent the machine back to ACER who reported the RAM was not compatible. We then returned the machine to the vendor and have subsequently tried three other types of RAM - the latest of which was on a list of compatible RAM we obtained from ACER. Still the problem occurs.

Worst thing of all is that the vendor cannot reproduce the fault during testing - so they obviously think I am making it up. It is so random that you would have to sit at the machine working for hours in order to see it happen.

Do you have any idea what could cause this problem? How can I fix it? Is my graphics card/ physical connection to board faulty?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Mel

Here is a link to a photo of the same image on my desktop and then on the travelmate when exhibiting this fault - very strange (and annoying)...

You could try to run a software recovery (dont forget to backup first) to make sure its not a software problem.

But in most cases ive seen this display problem with green-ish colors (in most cases after hours of useing the system) its a defect LCD.

OK thanks very much for your reply - I'll try sending it to acer again to see if they can fix/ replace the fault!
