what are you planning on doing? even my t5550 1.83 works fine with games. UNLESS you want penryn, you probably need to upgrade BIOS, and get a penryn CPU, it is not going affect much on your performence. Photoshop filter processing might be little better, but CS4 uses openGL, dso your video card wil take care of that, CPU are useless these days.
Physics processing is moving to the poing that job is done by the GPU

I am looking at the same i have the 8930g and any "newer blu-ray seems to be choppy. i also have t5800 and i going to upgrade it to the t9400 the main reason the l2 cache size and bus speed... this would definitely improve performance. If different processor don’t make a difference then why would they make them.

the reason that I am thinking of upgrading is that I am recently running various programs that seem to slow down my laptop. For example, it is not uncommon for me to be looking up something on the internet, have a couple of PDF files open, an excel doc, and be using Skype to chat with colleagues. That seems to really slow down my laptop and I am already max on memory etc.
Also, am doing some photoshop and although the processor runs fine, would love that extra speed boost, perhaps.
Cheers

look into maxing out the memory and a 64bit OS before upgrading the cpu. if it is still too slow, then a cpu upgrade will help.
although, an SSD will do wonders as well.
